OBWIous – Opensource Bluetooth Watch Initiative

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently been dedicating my spare time to an exciting project: building a homemade Bluetooth wristwatch. This project, named OBWIous, leverages various components to create a versatile and functional device. Here’s an update on the progress:

Project Overview

For this project, I have utilized:

Nokia 6610 LCD for the display
Bluesmirf GOLD for Bluetooth connectivity
Arduino Mini Pro for processing

I have completed most of the soldering and electronics work. The final step on the electronics side is to integrate some buttons onto the watch to enhance user interaction.

Software Development

I have developed a Bluetooth client application for the Nokia N900 running Maemo5. While the back-end functionality is complete, the user interface still requires refinement. I have also created a simple graphical user interface for the watch and recorded a video to showcase it.

Ahmet-

Saw your article on hack a day. You won’t believe it, but I’m in the process of building almost the same thing with almost the same parts list!

The main application I’m working on for mine is a feature that will cause the watch to notify me whenever it loses contact with my phone (Android). That way I will never leave my phone behind at a restaurant, when I leave for work, etc.

Very cool project and nice work.

I am trying to use Spp bluetooth module to controll things with windows phone 7.5
but i did not find a solution for this but i have downloadet your app on marketplace …

How you are have solft this is it possible to get the code for the wp7 app??
This will be awesome..

Due to expected huge api changes in wp8 , further development of the app is on hold. we will be continuing development of the app with release of wp8…
